I don't like this show, really. Anybody who knows anything knows that 2 pounds/week is the fastest weight should be lost. I'm losing it about that fast, and I exercise a LOT and eat reasonably, though I'm not into deprivation. Maybe if I was, I could lose it quicker, but I'd probably end up bingeing. Binging? Strange word.

Anyway, I think it's mostly a way for most of America to stare at fat people without seeming rude. Why do they show the men in shorts with their manboobs front and center? And what woman over a size 8 wears a goddamn sports bra?

As for enablers, I don't know. If they live together, they probably eat alike, and live similar lifestyles. I don't think it's necessarily a codependent thing.

Hello Q of C, I do wish you good luck with your new years weight loss plans. I can't relate to all aspects of your years of attempts but it does sound very similar to mine. Except that Mondays thing. lol I'm currently at 410 lbs., 6'4", and so far no physical break downs either. Was probably 310 10 years ago so I'm averaging a 10 lb. a year increase. Calorie counting and food diaries have been the only thing since Phen-fen that have helped me at all. I plan to join a weight loss matters group at the university I work at as any help has to be better than the help I've been giving myself. Just wanted to let you know there are plenty of people sharing the ride your on. Lets just hope and pray some of us get to get to get off this ride before we collapse something. ;)

Nice blog. But you shouldn't be hard on yourself for your weight. Focus on the good while you work on the bad.

Can i just say that is exceptionally sad. Your son, probably not even aware of anything like that, went out of his way for a nice jesture, as you said as a first, and all you can think of is that? I am a big woman myself, and can safely say it does not suck at all. I still turn heads, and you know why? Confidence and BECAUSE of my curves. You need to stop blaming your weight for things and look at the real reasons youre unhappy.
You do realise it's media like this, and bigger women being unhappy that bring about bad image problems like this and eating disorders in the first place? From what i can see of the pics you have something to be proud of, not ashamed.
Also, all your bad image problems will be rubbing off on your son, you might not know that or notice it, but it will be. Do you want him to have image problems/self esteem issues when he grows up? Or to hate fat people and think it's the worse thing ever? Cause you seem to. Life is too short.

I advise you check this link out;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ubea3y_Gdp0

Now im not saying you should go out and do that as such, but look how confident she is, she knows shes hot, and IS hot for it. That is at the BBW gentlemans club in hollywood, where men pay to see women like that, like us and bigger because there just isnt enough around as confident as that.

I actually had the same problem with the boots, the same look off the shop woman, but all i thought was 'what gives her the right? Obviously just small minded, and what does it bother me what they think' and like you i kept going till i got a pair that fitted. You do realise female body builders, and even women who just do a lot of walking have the same problem? Society's clothes arent kitted for the muscular of us, but you dont see a body builder beating herself up about it, why should you?

Sorry about the rant and long post, but it really got to me, and im not having a go at you, I'm just concerned your blaming your unhappiness on your body, and it'll be rubbing off on your son. I know, i was exactly the same, even had bulimia for 8 years, and it took a hospital visit to knock me out of it. This is why im concerned.

You are not as fat as you seem to think you are.
Self image is just one thing to conquer in the fight for weight control.

I promise this is my last comment today!

My boss, her mom, and my ex-fiance have the same problem of feeling desperately hungry ALL THE TIME. It's as though the switch in the brain that tells you you're full never turns off. Ephedra was great for flipping off that switch, but, well, you know what happened.

But maybe there is hope?

I just started taking Wellbutrin for a different problem and WEIGHT LOSS is one of it's side effects! I believe right now it's undergoing trials as a treatment for obesity:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2001/09/010913074534.htm

I've read a few online reviews from binge eaters who are using Wellbutrin "off label" and most (but not all) say it makes them less hungry. Unfortunately it can't be used during pregnancy.
